Ways Of Acquiring Emotional Intelligence.

Understanding your own emotions.
Have you ever wondered why, when you carry a baby and smile, it smiles back at you locking eyes with you within the spur of the moment, Only for you to carry another and yelps at your face disengaging eye contact? What could have gone wrong? The simple answer to this pent up question is that one loves to be carried and rocked while the other does not. At such a tender age of naïveté and lack of sophistication such a little one is already showing off the flame of introversion while the other is quite the opposite. The next question is why do children with the same method of upbringing, with the same parents, living in the same environment exposits completely different characters? Or Should we assume that someone somewhere is responsible for all these differences in traits and characters? One is headstrong and troublesome while the other is reticent, withdrawn and highly reserved. It's no secret that emotional Intelligence plays an important role in all facets of life, in academics, social relationships, interpersonal aspects and day to day businesses and communications.

Studies have shown in subsequent times that emotional Intelligence is a skill that needs to be taught and learned I mean if I own a school, I would incorporate it in my school curricular. Emotional Intelligence has sub divisions namely; Emotional Intelligence (EI), Emotional leadership (EL), Emotional Quotient (EQ) and Emotional Intelligence Quotient (EIQ). Meanwhile, there are also three types of intelligence.
1) Intelligent Quotient (IQ)
2) Emotional Quotient (EQ)
3) Social Quotient (SQ)

Now let's explain this one after the other, what could all these possibly mean and their impact.
1. Intelligent Quotient (IQ): this type of Intelligence helps one to "know book", solve maths; memorize things and recall subject matters.

2. Emotional Quotient (EQ): this enables one to be able to maintain peace with others; keep to time; be responsible; be honest; respect boundaries; be humble, genuine and considerate.

3. Social Quotient (SQ): instigates people to be able to build network of friends and maintain it over a long period of time.
People with higher EQ and SQ tend to go farther in life than those with high IQ but low EQ and SQ. Most schools capitalize in improving IQ level while EQ and SQ are given little or no attention.
A man of high IQ can end up being employed by a man of high EQ and SQ even though he has an average IQ. Correspondingly, your EQ represents your character; while your SQ represents your fame. Give in to habits that will improve these three Qs but more especially your EQ and SQ.
EQ and SQ make one manage better than the other. Please don't teach your children only the way to acquire an IQ but also to be EQ and SQ.
Therefore, It is noteworthy for individuals to understand their emotions and that of others as well, the ability to see things the way they really are would go a long way in maintaining cordial relationships. Therefore appropriate thinking behaviour will definitely reduce the complexities of understanding one's social or verbal behaviour. Have you ever walked into a grocery store where the sour looking face and the indifferent countenance of the front desk man or woman made you feel that the store was more fit to be called a garbage house rather than a store?
