The President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria through The Presidential Taskforce on COVID-19 said that schools and other related educational activities or programmes would remain closed. This was made known during its daily briefings today June, 1 2020. Furthermore, while giving an update on the PTF announcement, the Personal Assistant on New Media to Muhammadu Buhari, Bashir Ahmad, tweeted, “For now, all the schools are to remain closed, the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 announces the directive".
The National Coordinator of the PTF on Covid-19 Dr Sanni Aliyu, stated that the new timing takes effect from tomorrow, Tuesday June, 2 2020. He said, “Effective from tomorrow, Tuesday, June 2, 2020, the easing of the lockdown will be characterised by the following: the nationwide curfew will remain in place but the timings of this will be reduced to 10pm to 4am and just to clarify, the purpose of the curfew is to limit social interactions therefore, reducing the risk of transmitting the virus.”
Secondly, The Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 have solicited that the Aviation Industry to start developing protocols for domestic flights to possibly resume from June 21, 2020. The PTF has also announced the relaxation of restriction placed on worship centres and it's strictly based on protocols agreed to by the Executives.
Thirdly, The interstate travel remains forbidden except for goods and essential travel, as publicly announced today the PTF. On thesame note, the PTF has refused to lift the restrictions to shambles (market places) and strategic locations of economic activities to curtail the spread of the transmission.
Lastly, The Federal Government says that the Nationwide curfew is to be observed from the hours of 10pm to 4am daily. (Hennessyblog reports)...
