Our Weekend Insight: Before You Lose Your Child (Part 2)

The beauty of grooming an extraordinary children.

Children are indeed heritage of the lord's and the fruit of the womb is his reward says the psalmist. It takes a lifetime patience and a great deal of discipline to nurture a child in the right and acceptable way. It is equally important to let our children know what friendship is all about before restricting them to bringing or inviting their friends over. Parents and guardians should make it a point of responsibility to know whom their children hang out with. Comparatively, a stage will eventually rupture in a child's life in which they'll need a friend rather than a dictator or disciplinarian. This does not mean you shouldn't discipline your child when the need arises but parents should endeavour to spend more time with their children, interact with them on a deeper level, talk with them and not to them by doing this you're building not just friendship but effective communication skills in them.
In addition to that, sometimes it is better for them to make some little mistakes so that they would see and learn lessons from their own life experiences. Trying to shield them from harms way and acting over protective might go wrong at times. Moreover, the incessant use of rod and physical violence should be lessened while On the positive side, it takes just a little moment of mutual talks rather than using rods. Ask your child or children the reasons for their actions. Give them the chance to speak for themselves, if you deprive them that brief moment of mutual talk, they'd grow up with that poor mentality of not being able to speak or defend themselves in public.
Not only but also if a particular parenting style or method work best on you while growing up that doesn't sate your guts to use that same method on your children hoping it would work thesame abracadabrian it did on you. Remember we now live in a world of technological innovations and advancements where things are changing faster than anyone could have imagined. Each passing periods starting from the stone age or dark ages to this present age have its own acceptable norms and traditions attached to it. Similarly, as some would say that we now live in a world that no longer cares, a world that would watch closely to count our failures and overlook our successes, a world  that only accommodates the fittest. If you fail to thrown in some love and affection, trust me your children would definitely get it somewhere else's. By the same token, parents should make their children understand that no matter how old they grow, or the level of their maturity they could always count on you for pieces of advice above all, they should also be enlightened that all source of wisdom and knowledge is God. Make them understand that a time would come when you will no longer be there for them any longer but God is and will always be there. Be that as it may, Instill in them the fear of God  and absolute trust in him.  No matter what they pass through in this forest called life, be it failures, ignominy, tunnels, mistrust and betrayal they would always come out stronger for God is the pillar and the bedrock of a happy home.
